CryptPad

Purpose

End-to-end encrypted collaborative office suite designed so the server cannot read document contents.

Decision Summary

Strong privacy candidate, conditional on user training and tested encrypted-data recovery.

Encrypted documents, sheets, presentations, forms, kanban, drives and privacy-sensitive collaboration.

Lost links/passwords/keys may be unrecoverable. Verify contacts by public key; keep instance within 90 days of latest release.

Hardware Requirements

Recommended minimum Debian 12, 2 CPU, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB storage, Node LTS, HTTPS and two security-origin domains.

Backup Strategy

Back up data/, datastore/, block/, blob/, config/config.js and customize/ consistently.

Recovery Strategy

Restore complete filesystem data and matching config/version; validate both origins, WebSocket and sample encrypted documents.

Secure Boot Notes
